Who We Are
We’re Montclair parents and community supporters who want to make it joyful, fun, and safe to bike to school together. With creativity and courage, we’re determined to make our roads accessible to active transportation. Our hope is that the bike bus route is utilized not just during school hours but offers popular routes for all to enjoy. As a community-driven effort, we're always looking for volunteers to help on rides, lead events, and get out the word.
What We Do

What's a Bike Bus?
A bike bus is an adult-led scheduled bike ride that follows a specific route and timetable. There are bike buses all over the world. By riding with the Montclair Bike Bus you’re part of a global movement!

Montclair Bike Bus Takes to Streets for ‘Kidical Mass’ Ride
A group of cyclists nearly 300 strong took to the streets Sunday for a seven-mile ride. Starting in Upper Montclair, families rode all the way to Nishuane Park — and back. The goal? To send a message to elected leaders about the need to make Montclair streets safer.
South Orange & Maplewood (SOMA) and Montclair: Celebrate National Bike Month
May is National Bike Month, and we are pleased to highlight two outstanding community initiatives: the Montclair Bike Bus and the SOMA Bike Bus. These programs, led by dedicated parents and supported by their school districts and local municipalities, occasionally receive police escorts to ensure student safety.
