About Us
Who We Are
We’re Montclair parents and community supporters who want to make it joyful, fun, and safe to bike to school together. With creativity and courage, we’re determined to make our roads accessible to active transportation. Our hope is that the bike bus route is utilized not just during school hours but offers popular routes for all to enjoy. As a community-driven effort, we're always looking for volunteers to help on rides, lead events, and get out the word.
What We Do
- Build community support in town and schools
- Create rider tools, time tables, and routes
- Host events and gatherings
- Advise on transportation infrastructure redesign
What's a Bike Bus?
A bike bus is an adult-led scheduled bike ride that follows a specific route and timetable. There are bike buses all over the world. By riding with the Montclair Bike Bus you’re part of a global movement!

In 1969, 89 percent of students within 1 mile of their school biked or walked to school in the U.S. Forty years later, that figure was down to 35 percent. Bike buses have emerged both in Europe and the United States to encourage group biking to school for students.
